E Is For Empathy

Due to the tragic of what happened last week at Sandy Hook Elementary, I found myself at a lost for reasoning. I tried to stay away from television, and reading the news online as they tend to make matter worst.

I gather just enough general information, and think about the parents of these children. I don't want to know much about the killer or why he did what he did at a time like this.

D Is For Disgrace

The first Christmas after the divorce, we (the X and I) decided to carry on the tradition together as before. He would sleep on the couch at my house, wake up in the morning, and watch the kids opening their Santa's presents.

It wasn't the best decision, or the best way to go as we were still in limbo with our situation, for he lives 300 hundreds away, and visiting the children wasn't an easy deal. Above all, I think we both were lost, body and soul, but determined to move on without damaging the kids too much. 22 years together weren't a short time to erase, so I thought!

C Is For Court

My first legal battle with the X was of course, about the children a year later after the divorce. It shook the core of my being, as I feared the outcome of what might be traveling back to a small town where the X knew almost everyone in that little nook of the world.

He was for sure that he would win, and that entire court system would be on his side. You see, he worked as a reporter for that small town newspaper, and his name is known there.

B Is For Blood Relation

In 2001, my divorce was final. With three children in tow, I moved 300 miles away from their father and began the single mom life with less than a $1000 dollars on hands and no job.

The first two years was devoted in establishing routines, regularities, and normalcy for my children. I worked on the house so it could have the feel of home for all of us. This was the hardest part of time for us as we broke out into the unknown.

A Is For Appreciation

This week on Thursday, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving, and is also the start of Alphabe-Thursday round six.

The Salvage Life

I will start Alphabe-Thursday, round six, by writing out my experiences after the divorce, the grace and disgrace of events in hoping that those who are going through this hard time will find some comfort in reading how I've survived it all.

If you are a long time follower/reader, you know that I am physically handicapped so the challenge to survive with three children is not a small task.

I will link the posts here each week! This series will be RAW, so brace yourself and be warned..

Autumn Has Whining Down

Touch of Colors
In my neck of the woods, autumn is very near the end. Many trees are now stripped to the very bare bones especially after the affect of Hurricane Sandy's strong wind. I caught the touch of colors in the sky while inspecting my back yard. It was a beautiful sight to see, but electrical wires were in the way.

Y Is For Yarrow

White Yarrow Flowers

Yarrow flowers come in big clusters and in different colors of white, red, purple, pink and yellow as far as I know. The internet is a wonderful place to find information, but it is also very misleading too.

Autumn Flowers And Foliage

Mums are at their peak right now, and everywhere I go, I saw these gorgeous mums in all sorts of colors. I am not quite sure what to call this color: red, orange, or yellow, or a mixed of all. They were so bright on the day that I saw them.

V Is For Violets

Lavender Violet

My yard was full of violets at the end of April, and this lavender one was the main attraction at that time of the year. The color changed a bit depending on how intense the weather played out.

U Is For Unusual and Unique

Mystery Plant

If you look up flowers that start with the letter U on Google, you won't find any except for one that called "umbrella plant". Well, I don't exactly know what umbrella plant looks like as the images on the web are very varies. So, feature in this post, I recycled my old photos of unique and unusual plants.

T Is For Tulips

A Bouquet of Tulips
I have no tulips this year, as the weather was frighteningly different, and the squirrels had no mercy for those bulbs. However, since on my blog, I had a few posts with tulips, so I will just recycle them here for Alphabe-Thursday series.

Beautiful Pink Lily

Pink Lily

This was a show stopper pink lily for me. It was in a shopping center parking lot, but I had to stop walking while crossing the street to snap quickly a couple of photos. I don't often see this color of lily around here, so there she was, so beautiful to ignore or to close my eyes.

S Is For Strawflowers

Yellow Straw-flower
I planted these beautiful straw-flowers in a huge container on my front porch this year, and they bloomed beautifully for the last three months. I came across a packet of seeds at the Dollar Store last winter for only 10 cents, and thought it was worth to pick up.

Swinging In to Dream

Many houses around my neighborhood have folding lawn chairs, free stand swing seats, or glider on their front porch, and are known passionately as "porch monkeys"! It is a term of endearment, and a loving expression for those who love to be outside.

I, myself, want to get a helicopter garden swing for my backyard as I spent lots of time around this area of my home, taking photos of critters, weeding out un-wanted plants, and to feast my eyes on beautiful blooming flowers, or just watching the children play.

Normally, we should have some sort of seating arrangements in our garden or backyard as well to enjoy our very short summer months. However, since I owned a two-seat glider which is stationed permanently on the front porch; I would love to have a garden swing as well for the backyard.

There is something about being rock back and forth that I found very soothing, even if it is just a gentle push. I would like to have a garden swing or glider that offers an umbrella overhead to shield the sun and the rain for protection. This is currently going on my list of goals for next year, so by next summer I shall have one. Registered & Protected

Pink Cloud Going By

Just Like Cotton Candy
I love watching cloud in the early evening, as I find that this is always the best time to see some colors in the sky before the sun goes to sleep.

R Is For Rudbeckia

Mini Rudbeckia
I threw a bunch of seeds of this rudbeckia flower in my flower garden and waited! Once they grew I realized that they are the mini type of rudbeckia, which is also known as black eyed Susan, but I am not fond of the common name as it is suggested to something else in my mind.

Pinkish Sky
It is a great way to end the day by watching the sky outside my bedroom window. I took in a deep breath, said a prayer and admired the beauty of the world.

P Is For Peony

Inside Of a Peony
This photo of a light peony was taken by a church, and it was such a fancy one to see. The heart of this peony has a pale color pink with multiple petals, and was surrounded by darker pink petals on the outer edges.

Go On, Dance!

Pink Patch
Like dancer in the sky, the cloud moved this way and that. Some time it has a smooth surface, with a beautiful mix of colors. Other times, it looks frightening and rough.

O Is For Orchids

Creamy Orchids
Our local Conservatory carries many different types of orchids, and in many different colors also. I visited this place at least twice a year, especially in the dead of winter when the spirit needed a lift to see colors.

The Path of Life

Through the grape vine, I heard that my niece and nephew from two different States will be graduating from College soon. My mind screams silently WOW, and with its my utmost admiration.

This news led me in thinking and experiencing a feeling of shame that my two older children wouldn't be on this path of graduating from College.

Follow Your Dream

For all of us, parents, we want nothing but the best for our children. We nurture their ability, and we encourage their desire. Whether it is a wish to become a super star, or a dream to become a doctor; we make sure to provide whatever we could to help our children achieving their dream.

From a very young age, children have already conceived some sort of things that they would like to do when they grow up. The most common notions are: fireman, policeman, actor/actress, nurse, doctor, or a professional ball player.

When one of my children came to me with a yearning to become a model, I supported her decision by going to meet with different agencies and companies. We also did research on the internet to find a reputable local agent. Along the way, we ran in many other areas in this business, such as The Miss World pageant.

Tears On Growing

I turned 54 last Friday!
Proud that I have lived this long despite my doctor's prediction that I would be gone by 30.

Sad that I spent the day by myself.

Pain and hurt to realize that this won't be the last birthday that I would have to be alone.

The three children that I once had, were all away with their dad.

M Is For Marigold

Skipper On Marigold
Marigold is one of the easiest flowers to grow, tolerant in the heat, and dry soil. Though vibrant in colors and pretty, marigold has no sweet flower smell. I was told that these flowers will deter critters away, but that's not true either. Squirrels have no preferences and still dug up anything when they are hungry.

It Is a Hard Decision

My laptop sat on my lap, every day! I believe that is why it is called "lap-top". What else can it be?

This past few months it got hotter than usually and I noticed a brown patch on my skin where the laptop sat.

I bought two cooling fans for it already. It helps a little, but I know I have to invest in a new laptop soon as mine is getting very old.
