A Bug On Me

This bug has been identified as EASTERN BOXELDER by Leslie at Tranquil Acres of Alexandria!

I don't exactly know what this bug was, maybe milkweed bug or something, but they came out at the end of summer, and flied around our yard. It was a fascinating critter to watch, and observed.

I love the color on this bug, and when it flied, it showed a red belly. I am not even sure what kind of damage this bug can bring, so I just followed it and took pictures!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Hopefully it won't do damage to that beautiful flower.

  2. Great close up shots. Happy PS

  3. You know your category at least. Me, I don't know about bugs, they are all grasshoppers if they are green. lol. Happy PS>

  4. Amazing how the bug is almost the same color as the flower it is on.
    Happy Pink Saturday!

  5. Hi Mumsy,
What you have is an Eastern Boxelder bug.. No need to worry as they rarely do much harm, but are more just a nuisance. Enjoy it for what it is, a part of nature. At least it's not a Stink Bug..

  6. Box Elder bugs are beautiful, but they stink! We have them too in our neck of the woods. Beautiful pictures!

  7. Great captures. It is a colorful bug. Your photos are beautiful.

  8. What lovely colours the bug has -it matches the flowers!

  9. Lovely shots! I have to admit that although the bug looks interesting, I love the flowers that it is on, much better :o)

    Blessings & Aloha!

  10. I do not have a clue what he is, but he certainly is pretty. You got a great shot of him or her. HAve sent an email to a friend of our asking him what he thinks it is...I will be curious to see what he tells me. He is a wonderful nature identifier. HPS to you.

  11. The box elder bug looks a lot like the maple bugs we get here. I hate them, but this one sure looks lovely on the matching flower. Beautiful shots!

  13. I have no idea what type of bug you have but it loves the camera. You took some great shots and the color is perfect.
    Happy Pink Saturday, Char

  14. yes, its a boxelder bug, and we get lots at the end of the season too

  15. Th4e color orange on that bug blends in with the flowers.

  16. Wow! You captured really amazing pictures! We had a big fat oval shaped bug fly through our back yard last year. It made a loud buzz sound and had metallic green on it's body. My daughter found out it was some type of beetle! I thought it was an African Bee and was terrified of it!
Anyway, lovely photos!! Have a wonderful weekend!

  17. Happy Pink Saturday Mumsy Sweetie...
Oh what a gorgeous share today. Love the flower, but that bug scares me.

I am not a big fan of bugs and this one, oooh baby it looks big. Just the site of the bug would have made me run. You are a brave cookie to follow on and even get pics.

Hope you have a beautiful weekend sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  18. Very nice photos. I find bugs quite interesting.. .at least when they are resting on something other than myself.

  19. The colors of the bug complement the colors of the petals!

  20. Neat looking bug! My kids are forever finding bugs to bring home to be identified -- honestly, I should have studied bugs in college, it would have been more useful :-)
